David is the non-executive chairman of the company, he is a highly experienced and accredited finance executive with 35 years of PNG experience. He is recently retired as the CEO/ MD of Moni Plus and has served on Boards of a number of PNG’s licensed financial institutions. He has exposure in a number of PNG’s economic sectors and provides the company direction in strategy, financing and corporate governance. David has experience in most PNG provinces and is cognisant to the various business challenges and difficulties in regional and remote locations. He a director of a number of private sector organisations in his semi-retirement. David was awarded a MBE in the 2016 Queen’s birthday decoration for his services to the PNG financial sector and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jon Pittar is the founder and managing director of Solar Solutions Ltd., overseeing all areas of operations and sales through our Port Moresby and Lae offices. Jon has an impressive 30 years of management and business experience in PNG, including senior roles such as General Manager PNG at Colgate Palmolive, Regional Operations Manager at South Pacific Brewery, a Director of the Manufacturers Council of PNG and the Chair of the Board of Directors at Pure Water. Being well known in the PNG business community for his high ethical standards, Jon is skilled in marketing management, negotiation, business planning, operations management, and analytical skills. Jon is passionate about PNG its future, and believes in the impact that the Solar Solutions product range can have on economic and sustainable development.
Chandan is responsible for helping manage all financial and accounting matters. Her qualifications include Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing (1995) Diploma of Commerce – Accountancy (1996). Professional Qualifications include Chartered Accountant of CA ANZ (since 2004). After being based in Port Moresby with her family for the past 5 ½ years, Chandan continues to support the business remotely from New Zealand.
Prisca has 10 years of experience working in Accounts and has been with Solar Solutions for 3 years. Prisca works closely with the Financial Controller and Managing Director to maintain accounts using online system, Xero. A mother to two girls, Prisca enjoys spending time fishing and swimming in the river by her house.
Angela has five years of experience working as a corporate sales executive and 4 years of experience working in customer relations for large corporation within PNG. Charismatic and energetic, Angela is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities. She is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed be it in the warehouse loading stock, installing a new fan or presenting to a new client. In her spare time Angela enjoys playing soccer and taking her two sons to the beach.
Jennifer is responsible for extending our reach by engaging with local distributors and resellers nationwide and is our resident expert on all things Composting Toilets related! Most of her day is spent out of the office, hearing from potential resellers and corporate clients on how we can serve them better. Jenny brings to the Solar Solutions team 8 years of experience working in senior management roles around the country including, Retail Operations Manager for Anitua Mainland PNG, Branch Manager for Hardware Haus Madang and Branch Manager at Anitua Lihir and Lae. She loves a good cup of coffee and is a certified sweet tooth.
Robertha (Robbie) Leo manages marketing and customer relations at Solar Solutions, and is passionate about leveraging social media in order to achieve impact through the business. Robbie is the mastermind behind Solar Solution’s Instagram memes and manages partnerships with key online influencers to increase the profile of the business. With a Bachelor of Business and Environmental Science from James Cook University in Singapore, Robbie is skilled in contributing to business operations and in communicating the importance of Solar Solution’s technologies in Achieving the UN the Sustainable Development Goals. When she is not at work, Robbie volunteers her time in Port Moresby’s Trash to Treasure campaign, as well as other social causes.
Franziska Curran is passionate about finding new ways for Solar Solutions to partners with development sector stakeholders to increase the impact of programs in the water, sanitation and energy sectors. She recently submitted her PhD at The University of Queensland, exploring different business approaches to distributed technology access in rural low-income regions. Prior to this she studied Chemical Engineering and Mathematics, with an interest in renewable energies and sustainable development studies, and has worked in renewable energy and with Engineers Without Borders Australia. In her spare time, you can find Franziska bushwalking and cooking experimental meals.
